Does it require a certain mechanical fuel pump to run a return line to the tank from the pump?

You can get a mech fuel pump with a return but I liked a bypass regulator between the fuel pump and the carb so the gas to the carb is always circulating

No same fuel pump. Fuel Vapor separator and return line. In 1970. Look it up in a 1970 service manual.

I recall an early 60s Chrysler TB recommending an electric pump near the tank in series (if I remember correctly) with the mechanical pump for max wedge engines to help with vapor lock. I imagine it would operate by its own switch under the dash. My 67 R/T had an occasional issue when hot in the 80s when I bought it, and that predates gasahol. I've only had it running since the mid 90s in the past 2 years and because I haven't driven it, just idling it, I don't know how it would act on gasahol.
