So I just bought a new column with better wiring and bushings ect. Also a tuff wheel!! Anywho, was wondering if I could just swap the ends of the column (spline joint) so I wouldn't have to use a rag joint (pic 1 / pic 3). The column i took out had a static spline joint (pic 2 / pic 4) .

Besides a Mopar, what are you working on?

Is your car a 71 or 72? That column is a 74 is completely different in length and attachment differences.

Okay good to know. My car is a 72 charger se. The column out of the car has no bearings and the wiring is hashed. Not to mention the turn signal peice being broken.

69 Roadrunner I have way to much play in my steering. I've narrowed the problem down to the steering gear box. Thinking about buying a Borgeson (sp) gear box which is smaller; easier to get in and weighs about 10 lbs less. There was some talk about having to cut off some of the steering rod, but if it's power steering it's plug and play. Anyone have some experience in this? Borgeson would be brand new and about $600. Having the original rebuilt would be about $700, with $200 returned for core.

Call Bergman autochraft. He can set you up with the Borgeson box and the correct coupler so you don't have to cut your column.

UPDATE!!!
I was able to get the steering situated.
I rebuilt the "73 charger column with the shaft from the "72 charger. Even when installed the shaft was still too short for the direct coupler. But too long for the rag joint style connection. I was able to make it fit using the box side mount bolted directly to the rag joint coupler eliminating the rag joint entirely. It dosent bind and rolls smooth! Hoping the steering wheel is not too far back but looks great!
