How difficult is it to convert a 68 coronet to a center counsel automatic trans from the original steering column shifter. Car already has split seats not a bench seat car. Love the look of the center counsel. I tried looking for any threads that have already addressed this but no luck yet. Keeping the car auto trans so wife and kids can drive. Any suggestions on vendor for vintage wood steering wheel and column and also the center counsel. Thanks

You need the console brackets, the console, the shift handle, and linkage to the transmission, and a steering column that doesn't have a shift lever. Also the wiring harness for the lighting. It is a bit Involved.

As Monaco mentioned quite a bit involved. There is a thread over on A-Bodies where they remove the shifter handle bump as an alternative so you don't have to change columns. If you do decide to change it over i have the shifter and the linkage PM me

Thank you, I thought it might be a little involved, aside from cutting hole for new shifter, I was wondering if I need to add any metal fab to the counsel to accommodate the elevated new counsel/shifter where the lights are on the side. I'm assuming that is what the 3 brackets are for. Just toying with the idea. I will check out the A body threads. Moparparts, I will pm you if I decide to undertake this project. I'm trying to buy aftermarket steering column and counsel.
