Hi my name is Dale from Calgary Alberta and I still own a 1974 Roadrunner 440 GTX after 27 years. I drove it for awhile and then decided to rebuild it but I was young and dumb. Dont need to say more. Now I am once again slowly restoring it but undecided as to go modern resto or orignal.

welcome to the FBBO forum, I like forms of custome, Resto-Rod or Pro-Touring type builds, but that's me & with a GTX if it's a real 1, I would only do bolt on mods, no major mods that cant' go back to stock easily, if that's your choice in the future... Good luck

I like to hear that some folks "still have it". I still have my 68 RR that I bought in 1981. It's no where near done, but I'm gonna get to it one of these days. That's another story! Welcome to the site.

Hi Dale,

Welcome to the site!

Many years ago, I had an opportunity to buy a 1974 Roadrunner GTX. I told the owner that there was no such thing as a 1974 GTX (that's what my flawed book told me) and he was adamant that the car was original and he was the original owner. Many years later I read that the GTX badges were added to Roadrunners in 1974, but only on select 440 models. If I recall tight, they were on the hood bulge above the CID numbers and looked like they were added there as an afterthought. I no longer remember the details of the article, but I recall that there were very few of them made.

Bottom line is you have a rare car. I would restore it to stock appearance.

Just my 2 cents...

Good luck whatever you decide, and post some pictures please!

welcome dale, as stated by some i would keep it original also but it is your car to do how you want.wish i still had my 74 RR cop car.

Thanks for the post. The GTX signs are on hood. When I searched the vin. no. I could not find anything about the car. I got smart and typed it under GTX and found some of my answers. Lets say I was glad to see it was a GTX. thanks Dale.
