Was going to strip body down to bare metal than somebody mention to me to just scuff up old paint than apply epoxy primer sealer . Told me if you sand to metal it would take off some kind of coating that's keeps the metal from rusting . What to do ? Thanks

Pictures of what you are doing would help..

If you go to bare metal you use direct to metal epoxy or etching primer no big deal.

What slimt said ^^^^ also depends on how many paint layers you have, What kind of paint is on it, the condition of the older paint and any body work , and was the trim pulled on the prev paint job if more than the original one.
