I am changing the cam in my 361 and since the front cover is off I have decided I am going to remove the oil pan to clean any sludge and reseal. I'll be doing this in the car. I read a couple of oil pan replacement threads and it seems doable. I kind of like the Summit nylon windage tray gasket combo. My question is will I have problems getting it in over the pickup while still in the car?

Shouldn't be a problem... Drop the drag link & you might have to turn the crank so the front counter weight & crank throw are out of the way...

I've had really good luck with the Summit tray/gasket.... But apparently Kern Dog hasn't been to thrilled...

FWIW as far as you've dug into that engine it probably would have been better to pull it...

Probably right, but other than taking the oil pan off, things can start going back on now. Does anyone make a similar rubber gasket without the windage tray? I have had issues with the cork ones.

Just wondered if I could find something here in Canada, rather than having to have it shipped from Summit

I can only find a Mr Gasket version for over double the price.

IN October 2019 I changed to the plastic windage tray/gasket combo thinking that it would stop the leaks at the oil pan. They stopped some but not all.

And considering that whole side of the block is wet with oil I really think the oil is coming from above and the pan is not the problem..

The rear main side seals are dry.

Did I say the rear main seal? I'm thinking valve cover/intake/head.... Hey, change the pan & go drive the car..... Can I have your old pan gasket/windage tray??
