My body shop is getting ready to paint the shell.

Should the white tail stipe be painted or are the decals acceptable by todays standards? This car will be a show piece.

If painted, is there a stencil for it, which has the proper placment and locations? Is the round BEE above side marker light a decal?

I need to give them direction very soon.

Thanks
Rusty

Originals were decals. On a 70 coronet there is a slight angle to the stripe across the decklid. Not sure on a 69. Measurements can be taken and tape can be used if painting it on. Your choice on which way you go. Paint is nice but decals are original. My two cents.

Decal, if you're going for a factory correct appearance. A painted stripe always looks like restomod to me.

The 1969 Super Bee originally had decals on it

wow! have you got some kind of bat signal detector or something? If so folks must not ask may decal questions here or the bat signal needs some calibration but this one sure set it off. I was looking at the vender forum recently and saw you had not posted much and thought maybe we were off your radar. Thanks for the contribution :)

Thank you for your interest, we are just starting to focus on writing in the forums and appreciate your feedback. The team @ Phoenix Graphix

Funny I just came to this part of the forum to ask the same question about my restomod '69 Charger. I know the originals were decals, but I'm wanting to do a flat/satin black stripe against the full gloss black of the car.

So what kind of finish do the decals have? From what I remember of a triple black challenger I saw once I thought they were kind of a satin finish ?

Another consideration on tailstripes is if the quarter panel has been replaced. If they used a skin and cut around the marker light it's not an issue, but some aftermarket quarters didn't position the lights correctly.

We can provide you either a gloss or satin(matte) black finish. It really is up to you on a restomod. Our suggestion is the matte black. Thank you for your interest. PGI
