Sure didn't see this coming ...

But I bet its easier to lose a couple hundred pounds off the challenger than it is for the mustang to find another 50hp.

I prefer to not get into a 'well if you did such and such' discussion, but I'd take that bet w/o hesitation. Inserting a plug into the OBDII port is pretty damn easy.

I wonder what the challenger will do with a tune

Umm, I think a couple hundred bucks for a tune trumps the $15k premium for the Challenger...but I'm not real good at math.

I also prefer my cars w/ things like seats and whatnot...

I wonder what the challenger will do with a tune

Hopefully not explode.

Already got my name in the hat in two states.

It's official, the new Hellcat is rated at 707HP besting the Viper by 67HP. Now what?

FYI that Ford gained 300 pounds for 2015

FYI that's a rumor that has been laid to rest.

... as do I, I just think that it's a little premature to throw the yet to be released Hellcat under the Blue Oval. :)

I've stated the cars should be close in a straight line, but that extra weight...can't get around physics. Just got done reading more on the engine...iron block? What is this, 2009? Dodge just always seems a few years behind. It's a shame.

Disclaimer - I like cars to turn and stop too.

I also just read and think it's great they're offering an automatic...

First off let me just say this to those of you who own or have a mustang in your driveway / garage

Now on to the fun parts :)

Got a kick out of bashing all the Chrysler haters especially after Car & Driver called them out over the 707 HP Hellcat! lol This is why I am such a hater of the other brands, I for one am not going to sit around and see or listento anti mopar nonsense with out some payback! ;) Here is some of the conversation here is the link for those of you who are on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/caranddriver?fref=nf

Record-setting hp numbers to match its record-setting curb weight.

Just the way we like it. A big fat engine to move around a big fat body. This thing belongs on Woodward.
Like · 7 · July 1 at 2:07pm

Danny, do your research. The Challenger weighs about 400 pounds more than the Mustang. It is a much bigger platform than the Mustang. You guys really need to read before spouting off.

Guess nobody watches football in America! The hell cat is that 350 pound lineman running 4.4 40's! The fat jokes are all the haters got at this point!
Like · 16 · July 1 at 2:13pm

Kaspar Howe Considering that for every 100 lbs on the car, adds another .1 to your quarter mile, i would say he's got a point. Right off that's at least .4 slower then it could be.

Extra weight means nothing in a 1/4 mile when there's the extra horsepower. It's about the ratio, not the actual numbers.
Like · 4 · July 1 at 2:47pm

n You're aware that the extra weight affects the ratio, right Matthew? That's what we're all saying. Even with more power it will still have a higher weight to power ratio than the GT500. 5.9 lb/hp to 5.8, unless they also did some weight reduction with the power increase.
Like · 3 · July 1 at 3:15pm

then there is gearing, air resistance, altitude, front/rear weight balance, driver weight the list of variables goes on and on,
Like · 2 · July 1 at 3:33pm

Like · July 1 at 3:55pm

Nicholas Secor No its all about the number if your a racing person you'd know. For starters idc how much power it has its power to weight is more than the 2014 GT500. The Mustang still wins. The gear ratios and power to weight makes all the difference... the lower your power to weight is the more faster or quicker it is thank you!. #Mustang4Life.

Jordan Strohmayer they actually did do weight reduction if you listen to the video its the fastest muscle car ever build and it has a better power to weight ration than the mustang and the camero
Like · 2 · July 1 at 6:02pm

Nicholas Secor No it does not Jordan anyone trying to sell a car or for that matter talking about their car will say it's what they want it to be. It is not the fastest muscle car ever built. The 2014 Shelby GT500 is thank you

Brad Aguirre Hopefully it won't but we all know it will... I mean the z/28 is up there to be close with the handling of the gtr but lacks alot of horses
Like · 1 · July 1 at 3:28pm

Kyree S. Williams Actually, the Challenger handles quite well for being such a large car. And (I'm not a Mopar fan-boy) but I like the fact that it's got enough room to comfortably seat people in the rear, as opposed to the sawed-off buckets that are the Mustang and Camaro's rear seat accommodations.

Dan Capotosto Lmao the car runs tens. And has all new suspension. Everyone is so ignorant. A shelby 1000 or super snake aren't production cars. This is faster than the outgoing shelby and the camaro zl1. Plus, the camaro is right up there in weight. I swear some of you "car enthusiasts" are downright dumb

Andrew Henry I think some people are missing the point here...the Hellcat doesn't exist to be the best all-around muscle car, in the same way that pitchers don't exist to occupy every position on a baseball team. The Hellcat obviously isn't all things to all people. It just wants you to floor it, and watch you giggle when 150 comes up way, way sooner than you expected. When you want big numbers, you need big strength, and if its going to be (relatively) affordable, it can't be made of all exotic material. People won't buy a $100k Challenger. It's big, it's aggressive, and oh yeah, it has 707 HP.

Royce Rendon That's the great thing about having options- if this isn't someone's cup of tea, there's a Camaro or Mustang waiting on the other side. The guy who buys this car probably isn't too concerned with how well it corners. It's like a jack hammer, and that's what makes it special.

Umm, they're called 'facts'. Nothing to do w/ loyalty. Studying other manufacturers allows for comparison.

There have been recent posts where I recommend a 5.3 LS based motor and a 2004R too. Blasphemy!

Also guys, if any of your heads are going to explode, please record it and have someone put it on youtube for the world to see.
