TCI Torque Converters

Im about to dump the cash on one. I cant dish out 8-$1200 for one to be built going into a basically stock 69 383 2bbl motor in a 71 B body with 3.23's. I maxed my cash out rebuilding the 727 so just working within a budget now. I have the smaller of the Summit Mopar cams already and Im considering a TCI Breakaway or Saturday Night Special. This is mostly a driver with an occasional *** whooping a weekend or two a month. Any useful input is appreciated

I wasted my hard eaned cash on a TCI convertor 30 years ago. Maybe they're better now but I haven't spent a dime on TCI since. I would buy anything but I think.

Of those two I would go with the breakaway.

I would just run a stock 10 3/4 727 converter in that application
and save the money. I have had great success with that converter in
my street/strip cars.

Did you call Mancini's racing they have stock components also

I believe they are rebuilt ones on Rock Auto and several Auto parts sites
and stores.

Maybe there's a reason people think TCI stands for TotalCrapInside.
I'd buy a summit first, at $310. I'd probably move up to an FTI, personally.

Advance shows a rebuilt 764 for $152.

I put a high-stall stock 340 converter behind a 440 in my 69 rr. Worked great. (Obviously the high end of rated stall, around 2700 behind a stock A12 motor. Almost 200 more ft/lbs than the 73 340 it came out of.)

I saw the ones NAPA had also. I ended up sending it to Precision of New Hampton last week, hoping to have it back by the weekend, $317
