The high school I attended is 2.5 miles from the Richmond Raceway. No air conditioning and so we could hear those magnificent machines when they were doing time trials, etc. Brings a tear to my eye.:)

Richard Petty holds the record for most wins at Richmond with 13; David Pearson, Darrell Waltrip, Rusty Wallace, and Kyle Busch are tied for second with six. :)

Richard Petty was at the upcoming Chryslers @ Carlisle three (3) times... Twice invited (and I am sure, paid) to sign autographs... And his line was incredibly long , as you would imagine !!!

Third time, he came "incognito" to enjoy the show... We heard that it did not work out too well for him... Maybe he should have worn a full facial mask (it was pre - pandemic) !!!

Happy 84th to Mr. 200, the Greatest Race Car driver (and a whole lot more) Ever....

Happy Birthday Richard "the king" Petty

I was 1st thinking Elvis, but wrong date

In 1970 when I was 7 years old my uncle took me to Alabama International Motor Speedway ( Talladega ) and I got to see him and the Daytona car for the first time in person. Been hooked on mopar and nascar ever since.
Happy birthday king Richard !!!

Happy Birthday there "Ricky"; your accomplishments were not "Petty"!

My earliest childhood hero.

Back then the Daytona 500 was the only race normally televised on network TV.

I clearly remember the 73 Charger body and somewhat remember the 71 Satellite.
Unfortunately I do not remember the Superbirds.

Happy Birthday King Richard,Thanks for making the street Hemi.and the Superbird possible for your fans to be able to purchase them! Thanks for the fantastic racing memories!
