I am completely rebuilding my '68 Coronet. I just restored the K-Frame and installed new everything OEM Moog in the steering (except pitman arm for now). I am struggling on the $600 (including shipping and pitman arm) cost of a stage 2 Firmfeel power steering gear. Convince me one way or another if it is worth the cost.

    Thanks,
    Jim

I thought this was another Trump thread!

Sorry ,I'm not up on those power steering units. I've never heard anything bad...

Wow, that much? Only game in town for me. Firm Feel Stage 2. You will forget the cost when romping on a freeway sweeper. At a brisk speed. With easy control, almost modern.

That and it's a helluva lot easier to change now than six months from now.

Save the money for now! That's nuts for just a box. That money could go toward some more hipo parts...like my qa1 uca's I have for sale in the marketplace

Firm Feel or steer n gear.......I have both currently. The power box was done by FF and the manual done by SnG.....No problems with either units.

SnG is a little cheaper than FF.......

Might be a little cheaper just changing pitman and idler arms to fast ratio. Really not sure what difference would be changing arms versus steering box. I'm sure others here could tell you advantage of one or the other.

                Benefits of doing the box:
                1. For an all original car, quicker steering w/o an incorrect part(fast ratio arm)
                2. Rebuilt box

If your not concerned about looks and your box is fine then go with the fast ratio arm......

I have a stage 3 FF box off my car thats not being used. Low miles but leaked from the start. Nothing major, just annoying. Can be re-sealed. Also has large pittman shaft. 200 plus shipping. Do you live close to Phoenix? A friend of mine goes there like once a month to see his mom. Maybe can deliver with no freight.

I'm about three hours from Phoenix but I go there once in a while. You're not giving me great confidence if it leaked from the get go. Where is it leaking the shaft, the housings?

I have the FF stage 2 box in my 68 Super Bee, well worth it to me.
                  Handles much better.

I have the FF3 in my 71 Cuda. Very happy. Feels modern. Took away the no center vague mopar feel. Radial tires helped a lot too.
I sent them my box to mod'd and then sent back to me. Had it clear powdered while there.

I have the Steer n Gear Stage 2. I had to change my box anyhow, so it was well worth the extra money. Car handles great now, not sloppy at all.

If he needs the UCA's, then he can get them too from FF. As far as the box, they're good

I have a FF stage III on my 70 GTX. The suspension was shot and I ordered a complete kit from FF including sway bars (front and rear), torsion bars (1.06), tubular upper control arms, reinforced lower control arms, heavy tie rods and tie rod ends, I thought it would be a little rough but it rides and drives great!!!! I also put on 4 wheel drilled and slotted rotors all the way around. The car drives, stops and handles great!!!! So much fun to drive. I currently have 235/60/15's on it but looking to upgrade to 17 inch wheels.
