Torque converter bolt access

Hi guys. I just swapped Transmissions and my 70 GTX and I cannot figure out how to get a torque ranch of any sort and the torque converter to flywheel bolts. Last time I did this was 19 years ago and I have no idea what the hell I did the only thing I can think of is that I didn’t have an oil pan on there yet. I would rather not pull the oil pan. I tried grinding down the socket but they’re still not enough room to get a torque wrench in there. Anyone have some good ideas for this? Thanks in advance.

Ive never used a torque wrench on my torque converter bolts. Crank them and move on.

Not sure what's different here, but I torqued mine.

I always use a little loc tite and tighten as snug as I can and never had a problem

Maybe use a 3/8 drive torque wrench?

I've had torque converter bolts come loose on 2 transmissions now.
Both were cleaned, torqued using blue loctite.
I'm going back to the old way really tight with a wrench.

Get an extension wrench with the square drive and do the math.

Yeah I was afraid this was the “correct” answer

Exactly what I did

No luck, tried that, even ground down the socket

German tight, will do.

I just throw a wrench on it until it smokes a little then 1/4 turn more

I cut a large notch in the bottom of the bell giving me full access to the flex plate and converter bolts. I use red and tighten with a box wrench.
