Torqueflite 727 trans pan

I have had enormous trouble getting my transmission pan to seal completely. It is the original pan with no drain plug. I am ready to locate a new pan with drain plug and found one in Summit. Just wondering what is groups opinion on best pan to buy? Anyone have advice?

If it is your pan only leaking, take it off and hammer around the edges when the bolts go thru and make sure it’s flat. Shouldn’t have any issues after that. If someone has over tightened the pan bolts before it won’t seal

George, be sure it’s not the O ring on the dip stick or the seal on the shifter mechanism. Clean everything thoroughly and check it to be sure it’s your pan. Sometimes it’s not the pan at all. Like mentioned above, make sure your pan is flat. Silicone on transitions is not your friend. IMO

Problem solved. These pans are really nice with a drain plug. Can't believe they're this cheap. I should stock up. Click on the image.

For added benefit, a spacer could be used. But the top of the fluid level is the same with a deep or shallow pan.

Buy once, cry once. The B&M aluminum pan is nice and seals with cork. Made in the USA as well.

My street car has a B&M. Nice pan but it is HEAVY. And now a days way to costly. The current cost at Summit is $242. The racecar has a R46H stamped pan. Neither one leak a drop.

I purchased this cast aluminum pan from Summit. It is very deep but is a nice high quality, made in USA piece for $151.

The 518 pan works well with the reinforced factory style gasket. My racecar has the same pan gasket afetr 10 years with numerous tear down checks.

Another common culprit is the shift selector seal.
Again be sure it's really the pan otherwise you're spending time and money for no improvement.
