That's funny. I guess towing my travel trailer with a 3/4 ton pickup is overkill?????:steering:

I know a guy that towed a 2 place snowmobile trailer with sleds from Wisconsin to the UP with a late 80s honda..

when i was a kid my dad used to haul our 28 foot travel trailor all over california with his 68 charger rt 440.got some great looks passing people on hills with that set up.

I had to move my 24' 4400 lb enclosed trailer the other day using my 95 Dakota on somewhat soft ground. It's full of stuff too so it's probably more like 7000 lbs right now but I had to put it into a very tight spot and the Dakota afforded me more maneuverability than my long bed extended cab 3/4 ton. It didn't like it especially when I got into a softer area and the trailer was leaving 2" deep tracks in the soil.....but it did it. I'm sure I overheated the converter a bit because I was on it better than 1/2 throttle and wasn't moving very fast but it wasn't pulling it more than 5 minutes.

My Pops pulled a 28' Airstream trailer {it did have trailer brakes} from Garden Valley Ca. NorCal to the bottom of Mexico, in 1975 with a stock CJ-5 304ci V8 3 speed 4x4, with my step mother, her two sons & 2 daughters, 6 people & a Jeep with that trailer, all that way, no problem supposedly... I wouldn't recommend it thou...

They didn't have any power to begin with, now strap on 2,000 pounds and see how it goes! Check this clown article from the 70s...

Well, I actually read the article inside that link, and it's only an 1140 pound trailer. The car apparently behaved itself just fine, and didn't overheat in 100 degree weather. The graph shows braking, cornering, steering and high speed stability all as "excellent".

I have no doubt that's what the article says.

I'd like to see the this on the west side of the Blue Mountains in Oregon going NW...
