I know this has probably been covered before here at least a gazillion times but I'll be damned if I can find it.

Does anybody know what the largest tire is that will fit under a stock 68 Roadrunner without minitubs? Preferably lowered slightly with 16 or 17 inch rims.

Lots of info from the 62-65 erra but can't find anything from the 66-70 school.

Pictures of your set up would be nice. The winner recieves a booby prize.

It will take a 13" wide in girth & 29" tall tire with out alteration or lowering, allot depends on the rim back spacing too... I have 295/50/15's easily under my current 68 RR on the back w/15"x9" rims & 5"B/S & 245/60/15's up front w 15"x7" & 4.25" B/S, no relocation & no rubbing issues at all, front or rear... if you go to a 10" wide or wider wheel/rim in the rear a 5.5"-6" B/S will be required or move the rear leaf springs or go to a different type rear suspension, depending on tire girth/width & height/body stance {ride height} whether it's lowered or not & I highly recommend you purchase a Percy's Tire Fitment Tool, from Summit racing or Jegs for like $70, you can figure out exactly with the fitment too, what exact rim diameter & what height & widths of tires will work with a specific ride height or rim backspacing etc... the tubs/wheel wells get narrower as you lower the car... I hope that this helps some there are a ton of these type threads in the general discussion forum section... sorry the photos don't show the tire size very well the rear is lowered 1-1/2" the front will be lowered 2" More inches, when the new suspension parts & brakes are installed also... wheels are Halibrands Polished Kidney Slots & BFG radial T/A's

Sorry but i cannot help however I would still love to see the boobies ... unless it's your's again :)

Thanks guys, thats good info from all. I have measured the hell out of things and I suspected a 315 would fit but never had it confirmed by anybody. I plan on spring relocates and a Hotchkis kit in the rear which I think drops it by 1".

My biggest concern was the height and your 29" coment helps Budnicks. Back in the day we would just slap airshocks on it and not worry. Not gonna go there this time around. I understand the back set parameter and am not worried as you can get just about any backset you want on most rims.

I like how your 15s fill the well Budnicks, I think I'll definately go with 16s. A couple of cranks on the torsion bars will drop yours down to the perfect stance.

I like the more rim less tire look but I'm not a big 20" fan. I have seen 68s with 20s and they look good, it's just not me.

Ok, since you've all helped the prize is below. Except for you Tallhair, you made fun of my man boobs (if you really think that's me). You cant look.

My wife would be really pissed if she knew I posted this pic on the web so try not to spread it around.

Man that looks good Benno. Love the color. Like I said earlier, done correctly, I understand the apeal of the 19s & 20s. Do you know how tall your 295/35 19s are and the section width?
Does anybody know if the rear wheel well is designed differently on the Chargers than it is on the Birds? I know that Chargers have several other subtle design changes but not sure if this is one of them.

thats a 27" wheel/tire. section width ? is that sidewall? if so mine is 103 mm
chargers and birds of same year are identical wheel walls i have been told

Thanks, yes section width is sidewall to sidewall. Should be the widest portion of the tire. I know you can figure it out by the actual tire size but it always differs a little once they're mounted. A narrower rim can make them bulge, a wider rim will flatten the sidewalls out some.
