Trunk Hinges

Any way to make these loose so they dont stick up without a lid on em or at least keep them down? They are tearing the crap out of my tarp

Tie some weight on with a rope or something on both sides, but it will take a few pounds as the trunk springs are pretty stout torsion type springs.

Thanks. I thought of using a board on each side at an angle to keep em down and it worked. Wish I would have done that a long time ago
