Trunk Vent Flaps

Just checked the flaps and hold downs, to install. WELL either the hold down bars expanded or the flaps shrunk horizontally. I expect the later. I know I could heat and stretch, but think they would recoil on cooling.
Would appreciate any advice on how to revitalize the rubber so it will stretch and not shrink. Thanks.

Boil the rubber in water. Take out the rubber and wipe with glycerin. Repeat at least once more.

Thanks. Any idea how long to boil them. How quickly do I put the glycerin on?

That works too.....but boil them a few minutes then apply the glycerin on some newspaper.

The boiling really works to set back to original. I did that with my bumper fillers on my 73 Charger.
