I have new Mity Mounts engine mounts and 2" headers going into 3" collectors. HD torsion bars.

I hear a rattle at idle.

I need some ideas how to fix this.

Wrap a piece of rubber around the pipe where it's making contact.

I thought about something like that using heat wrap of some kind. I may go that route.

That might last for a short time. It would rub through after awhile.

I'm wondering if the Mity Mounts and the heavier torsion bars are at fault. Strange to hear there's clearance issues.

I wonder if the alignment shop had anything to do with it. They set the ride height when they aligned the front end.

Would turning the adjuster screw on the LCA in or out make a difference?

Kk that would smell great. Picture but a small FH is the easiest. It won't hurt HP. You want put something like another pipe where you need to dent it, so your not directly hitting header.

I really don't want to remove the header or the torsion bar if I don't have to.

Wrap a ratchet strap around the collector's and crank on the straps. Or around just one, and some other anchor point. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. OLD hooker adjustables, altered the angle of the dangle with a floor jack, altered the direction they pointed with a ratchet strap.

Well if you're not willing to use the BFH... a nice smooth round pinch bar between the torsion bar and the pipe that's hitting and pry a relief into it.

Don't know what ride you're talking about; but yes HD bars could be the reason you have contact. I have TTI's on my 63 and they're a tight fit to say the least with stock bars; very little clearance and suspect if my engine develops a miss or out of tune, it could be enough to contact the bar. As posted maybe a slight ride height adjustment could make a diff? Before doing much I'd want to get it on an alignment rack and see if an adjustment could solve it. Any adjustments such as LCA would likely require a re-alignment including T-bar changes. The mounts you mention might be a diff spec than stock? Motor sitting lower? Torqued properly? Last resort I'd pref to remove the header and get it on a press to make a slight/round indent, if they are coated or ceramic don't know if that's advisable...could ask the mfg.

Maybe double dead soft aluminum header gaskets?

Hi,is it both sides rubbing, what heads are you using, if its one side rubbing you could shim one of the mounts TTI mentioned in their footnotes about factory engine location

It's one side. Factory 906 heads. I have about 2-3 inches between the header and TB on the driver's side. I may look into that.
