My 66 Satellite has a OEM-type Hurst shifter fitted with an Inland shift handle. It’s probably from Brewers. It has the regular 6353 lever set in it and the throws are really long, at least compared to my 66 Corvette and Cobra/Toploder with Hurst Shifters. I’m too old to speed shift the thing anymore but I’m not sure how anyone did with one of these anyway. I would like to shorten the throw to make driving a little more comfortable. I thought of drilling new holes in the transmission levers but the 1/2 lever has a bend in the plate that would interfere. It looks like there was a one year Hurst shifter in the 70 B-Body that used a 7174(R) set of levers in the shifter that were longer and would shorten the throw.
Is there a source for a 7174 Hurst lever set? I didn’t see it on Brewers website if there is. Would there be aNY ISSUE INVswapping them into my shifter case. I plan to tap the holes and mount shift stop bolts.
Thanks
