Does anyone know what the correct size bulb for the front turn signal would be on a 64 dodge? I tried the 1157, but it doesnt want to fit in the socket.

The 1157 is a dual filament dual contact bulb and what you need a single filament....1156 or 1056 is what it takes I think for the front. The 1157 has offset pins and the one you need should have equal pins and a single contact. The 1157 should fit for the brake/turn signal for the rear...

Hey Zack the book for my car lists them lights as ( park and turn signals ) and calls for a 1034 bulb, dual filament I believe.

Guys, thanks for answering my question. I did manage to get the 1157 to fit and by testing it with a battery and 2 leads, it works...who would have thought it would work with my limited electrical expierence, lol!! I will go get a couple of different sizes as mentioned, so I will sleep better at night.

It seems odd that a 1157 bulb dosen't fit your front turn sig socket. Are there one or two contacts in the socket....? One means you need an 1156 bulb..... two would indicate you need an 1157.
One more thing, i'm not sure if the park/turn signal lense on a 64 is clear or amber. If clear you will need an 1157A, (amber) bulb.

I did manage to get the 1157 into the bulb socket and tested, works just like it should. I did fins out that the "tits" and the side of the bulb were alittle to big, so I filed them down a smidge and they popped in place. The lenses are amber so I went with the clear bulbs.

Just cause the lenses are amber, a clear bulb will give the marker a "washed-out" or faded look. Amber bulbs will give you a rich yellow that I like.
