Which weights? Are you talking about some balance weights on a cast-crank torque converter or flex plate or something like that & you're running a neutral balanced (and/or small rod) '69 440?
Yes, you can simply knock off the weights. They are on there pretty good, so you will likely need a chisel. I have done this numerous times with no ill effects.
I've done that too but mine wasn't perfect. May need to grind the welds down smooth too? Why not just stick in a new converter? Stockers or near stock ain't very expensive....
