Not to be insensitive but what is the average life expectancy of women and men? We all will die of something at some point so at 80 years old, she could have broken a hip, had a heart attack, got pneumonia, had a stroke or any of the other things more likely to happen to a "seasoned person". I wonder why cancer was mentioned. That word scares me though, I hate seeing it in print or anywhere.
I remember her name but don't remember much of her work besides a few TV shows.

I remember that she had bad cancer quite a while ago. It’s terrific that she made it to 80. Before anyone jumps in with smartass comments about “bad” cancer as opposed to good cancer; my wife had bad cancer. She’s still alive and doing well.
Harper, who beat lung cancer in 2009, was diagnosed with a form of brain cancer called leptomeningeal carcinomatosis in 2013. The disease is incurable, and Harper was reportedly told at the time she would only have months to live. However, she survived for six years thanks to her medical care. RIP Valerie!
