Going to the hardware store to install studs for my buddys 440 with MP valve covers. Using the 1612 felpro gaskets.

Id measure but the cars a few hrs away

How deep are the valve cover bolt holes? I dont want the studs to be to short when bottomed out

The threads into the heads will vary some. Original iron heads will be different than aluminum heads too. A safe guess would be 1/2" deep.
Keep in mind that the threaded holes sometimes are not square with the mounting surface and that any stud that you use will need to be bent to achieve the proper angle to slide the valve covers in place.

I measured 906 and 915 BB heads.
The holes are 9/16 deep.
A stock VC bolt is about 9/16 long under the washer.
Then you have the thickness of the valve cover and the gasket to add in there.

I did not screw in a bolt to see how deep the threads go.

I remember cutting the ends off a whole set of performance chrome valve cover bolts because they were too long for a stock 67 chrome valve cover.
