Looking for recommendations on what valve covers to get and what valve covers and what Gaskets. Are the stamps steel ones from 440 source good. Need a set for a big block. I bought some blue Moroso steel reinforced gaskets are they good. Looking to eliminate leaks.

I like my Moroso steel , they dont leak which my aluminum ones did. I think they were over torqued at one point and I never checked them, always leakwd at the firewall on the passenger side no mayer which gasket I used.
As long as the rails are true bot on the head and the valve cover and torqued correctly you shouldnt have any issue. I do like the rubber reusable gaskets.

Are you looking for stock style, or aftermarket ? Back in the day, we would routinely swap the stock ones for the cast aluminum, like M/T, Cal custom, etc.

I use the cast alum covers with rubber gaskets and glue the gasket to the cover with weatherstrip adhesive. You can then remove the cover and replace using the same gasket with NO leaks! ruffcut

For many years I used the thin DC blue aluminum covers with Fel Pro rubber gaskets. The trick is getting the correct tightness. The cast are generally easier to get a good seal. Never used a sealer except to seal the gasket to the cover.

I haven't heard much good about the AMD valve covers, but never have seen them myself. I think a complaint is that the bolt hole don't line up with the heads.

Not necessarily looking for stock ones they are hard to find. Would like a set to seal well with the Moroso blue gaskets. I've always liked the metal Direct Connection covers but will they seal well since they are thin metal or would the cast aluminum seal better due to better clamping force. I have a set of Chinese made M/T covers and they leak. They are not flat on bottom they have a thin rounded edge on bottom side..what would torque specs be on either metal or cast..I'm sure not much

I run Mopar Performance aluminum valve covers on all my cars. Fel pro rubber gaskets with gasket sealer on the covers only, let them set overnight then bolt on to heads....works every time, no leaks.

I have black Mopar Performance and cheap ebay cast aluminum covers with the blue Moroso steel reinforced gaskets on both my 440's. No glue, just install and drive.

I use aluminum heads on my 440 with a aftermarket aluminum valve cover. I have used the Blue Moroso which they say you can use over. But if you go a tad to tight sometimes they tore and leaked a little so you have to be sure and not over tighten them. The last time I used a Fel Pro gasket thats about a 1/4" thick as its a kinda hard compressed gasket and I have the part # in my garage if anyone ever wants it. But they have been on my car about 6 months with no leaks at all so I am happy with them. Ron

If you don't care about originality, I have had good luck with Mancini's 8552 cast aluminum valve covers. I use either the Moroso blue gaskets or the Ultra Seal's. I added a oil fill cap from Speedway Motors #575-20457 as well. Like stated above, if you overtighten the Moroso's, they will tear.

That is what worked for me, but I used RTV on both sides of the gasket.

I like the felpro gaskets.
Regular oem style cork with a little napa gasket sealer on the covers.
Lock in the placement tabs , stick a 1/4" bolt in each hole.
Let dry over night and install with a nut driver, no 3/8 ratchet
I'm using stamped steel mopar covers.
