Vinyl top parameters

Hey guys, i’ve been putting this off for a month or so, finally getting ready to install my vinyl top this weekend. Pretty sure I understand the process, but have never done it before so insecurity has caused me to hesitate. I believe the only question I have is the extent of the vinyl top in the front and back. I understand on the sides I need to extend it down into the channel of the drip rail and up the inside sides, and the chrome drip rail molding will cover the rest. What about the front and back? How far into the openings do I extend the vinyl top? Seems like if I extend it too far and it will interfere with the moulding trim clips and windshield seal? My question is, how far down into the windshield and rearview window opening do I extend the vinyl top and trim it?

now that I think about it also, what about the legs coming down the front? Obviously, on the sail panels in the back there is a chrome piece to hide where it stops, what about on the front? I don’t believe there is a chrome piece unless I am missing something wherever it stops going down toward the hood.

I glued it down all the way with over hang then ran a new razor blade right at the 90' corner and carefully peeled off excess. don't cheap out on the glue buy the best. use a bondo spreader to tuck it in. That's the way I did it. Extra set of hands is huge. And there are vids out there for tips.

OK, so you went over the 90 and downward, but you didn’t adhere it to the flat portion?

when you spray your glue..... I used a cheap paint gun with wider tip... after you do the top flat surface and use bondo spreader. you can let that set then spray glue on all that surface you showed then make sure its adhered with no air bubbles. then trim and peel off excess. do your main surface first. then the smaller edges. it makes it much easier. do your research on the glue... I recommend not using preloaded can stuff. so yes I did spray liberally on all that then cut and peeled off the excess. I hope that helps

As donb said roll it over the edge, glue it down well and put the trim clips on top of it. Use Weldwood Landau top adhesive.

Do one side at a time, mark a centerline on the vinyl and on the lip on both ends. Tape it down, fold it over and spray the glue on the top and the back of the material.

The glue is fairly forgiving, you can pull it back up and re-stretch it if it hasnt been pressed down yet.

And DON'T let any of the glue over spray onto any exposed painted surfaces that won't have vinyl on it. Once it starts to set, it will be near impossible to remove without damaging the paint.
