Long time FABO member and happy to post my first thread in the B-body forum!

Just kicked off a Viper-powered 1970 Superbird clone build that I'm turning into a time attack race car. Currently campaigning my 1969 Barracuda in the SCCA Time Attack - Western Division while putting the bird together. Ive been building classic mopars on YouTube for a few years now and love these forums for the detailed discussion. Let me know what you all think!

Subscribed to watch it come together... I was about to say something about starting with a solid car... then you poked the front frame rails. lol

Yeah, those front frame rails were supposed to be "solid" lol. Nothing a few hours with the grinder and welder cant handle.

I subscribed because I always wanted to build a SB clone, even bought a 70 Roadrunner (which I still have) but due to the need for Coronet fenders and then all of the nose and wing I backed away from the idea. Also my car has a tilt front end on it now which I would have to undo first.

I am about to start this build as well but instead of a SB it will just be a street freak Hemi 4 spd 70 RR, that said I still think about doing the SB...

I am interested to see how this goes.

I decided to go full fiberglass for the ease of finding/making parts, installation, and weight reduction. To recreate an original spec SB is a huge task. Much easier to go the race car route.

Who are you getting your SB stuff from?

I drove a friend's Petty Blue Superbird clone through town years ago, and I can still remember all of the cars I passed slowing to a crawl so they could look at it longer! Definitely not a car to go unnoticed in.

Welcome to FBBO from NorCal Sierras

should be a fun car, good luck

I worked with Grant Janak for the kit. WingedWarriorbodyparts.com
That website doesnt work. I googled SB parts and got a few hits, mostly ebay. Found metal front end for $16K and all metal rear for $4500 which are both way too expensive for me.

I am now really thinking about doing the SB conversion/clone but the only source I found is Stinger fiberglass and while I have an AAR hood which is nice they seem to be a bit iffy on the SB stuff.

Not sure what I was doing wrong but I got to the website.

Do you have to use Coronet fenders with their kit?

I ended up just buying the fiberglass fenders from Janak as well. Didnt want to deal with sourcing and modifying original coronet fenders. Plus, it saved a few lbs.
Did you get the factory spec ones or the economy spec?

I am talking to them now and I think I am going to get a full economy set with the bolt on hood and bolt on fenders as well.

I was to experiment with the hood side, I would really like to put an air grabber onto the car (definitely not trying to make a clone). I have several RR hoods and the width has to be the same, it seems to me its more about the nose.

This is the car I am starting with, 70 RR 383 AT hot rod that someone put a tilt front end on it. I am planning on putting a 66 426 and 4spd into it.
