vw van hoard up for sale

a 500 buck viewing fee? may they rust in peace... I wouldnt give 500 bucks for a running one..

I haven't been able to figure out what makes these so popular. It's basically just an air cooled, under powered brick.

Gonna charge $500 just to look? And will only sell the whole lot together? He must have learned a lot from the Craigslist Morons.... The ones that have the rude ads up front saying "No low ballers, I know what I have, and dont waste my time" ....

Those ads are run by people that sick of tire-kickers, picture-takers, and people who think they're a lot smarter and more clever..... than what they could ever be. However, Those V-dubs are being sold by the wrong person, to make them go away.

All the retards in the hobby, have made me start throwing decades of parts away.... rather than deal with their reading "knowledge and expertise", and cunning business savvy.

You're right! The old German ones are gold. I'm not sure where the love for these buses came from ,but, it shot the price through the roof!!

theres a vw Car collector down the road from me,he has over 40 of them,
most of them ran and drove.
the town got on his case and made him do something about them,
because they werent registered.
so now theres 40 vws under 40 car covers in a tiny yard down the street.
at least my neighbor got something worth keeping.
its amusing and creates convo when new customers come up.

those vans shown in the link are rotty junkers.
ive Stripped better ones than he shows for the kitchen parts And,
coronet mx is absolutely right, theres no valuable ones shown.

i wonder what happened with that place in canada that was selling with the 300? cars or so.
some of those cars were deffo worth fixing.

ty..i Am that guy...you must not sell a lot of stuff on cl,or the other sites either.

heres an example,so you can understand.
i listed a older car,mid 80s runs drives needs tires and brake work, for less than 1400 bucks.
specifically said, car needs tires and wipers and brakes need bled.
the First line says,if the ads up the car is still for sale.<<<

i then got over 200 pm-s/texts /is this still available/not sold yet?
another 150 of whats wrong with the car.
around another 30-40 of can i drive this back to my house if i buy it.
unknown amount of will you take this in trade/usually a sled, motorcycle,
or some other random pos that doesnt work, along with pictures of said " gems "
lets not forget the lovely lowballers that you spoke of.
i got over 40 of those, even tho i had posted what my lowest offer was before listing the car.
all 40 were lower than the first offer...read? the ad? why would they do that?

and yet,the car still sits in my yard,
not one person has shown up,and my ads are usually a mile long,
and filled with every detail i can think of.
because i Want my customers to be Happy when they leave with their car.

so,in conclusion big bad dad,
hopefully next time you see one of these ads that say this,
you will have a new view of WHY they May have said that.

its because people nowadays are lazy, they dont even Read the Ads!!
they also want everything to be perfect and damm near free.
and they dont want to do any work on anything, this Is the worst generation ever.

Here in Mexico the same thing happened, nobody's want those vans, and now bum they worth gold, especially the ones with the air cooled engine,

it's crazy what they bring restored
it's a popular deal

(I've never been a big Van guy, I've seen a few cool surfer vans)

some bring $20k-$30k & some even bring $100k plus

just like the classic truck market is going nuts too
people with different tastes, for many different reasons
"can" drive the market/values

IMO most those in that art. photos
were true rust-buckets, not worth much
maybe to some VW expert that knows options & values
they may be good for restorations, just not to me...

I suppose if it had the right options, combo & vin etc. etc. etc.
just like many other classic or collector cars do
Hemi car, V or M code etc., re-bodies come to mind
even as rust-buckets, they can bring big $$$, look at rare MoPars
you're buying a vin tag &/or fender-tag, rad support & trunk surround
pretty much, the rest can be replaced, I see no differences here

looks like the owner is trying to ride that type of wave/popularity

I don't blame the guy for being cautious either
a $500 viewing fee will certainly keep most all the
reg. tire kickers that have no intention on buying or
the a-typical negative Nancy's & "lookie lous" away

Not sure that's how I'd do it, but I understand why he did...

IMHFO not many of them seem to be worth $6k +
but I'm no VW van expert
(or an 60's ex-commune/hippie/doper-tripper/dead fan, with $$$ now)

I do know I've seen them go way up in value
& many sell in the right settings for a shitload of $$$$
far more than I'd have ever thought
(a shitload of time, labor & money spent to get them in great condition too)
"in their wildest dreams", that they'd ever be worth that much
finished & restored, to like new or better than new condition...

(Hoarder mantra)
I'll get to them some day, the old war cry of the obsessed collector...

I think he'll have most of them still rotting away in the grass/fields
the back 40, some 10+ years from now too....
That's how hoarders work, when they finally decide to actually sell
(or get hauled off for scrap) usually they too old to do anything with them !!
I see they are worth pennies on the dollar,
all because of obsessions compulsions to acquire way more
than they can do anything with, it snowballs !!
or it's just blind greed, thinking they will be worth a fortune
"some day" or even mother nature, neglect or rust etc.

The VW Kombi van is built almost the same way as my A100 truck. I was lucky enough to know a panelbeater who loves working on VW Kombi's when I need the truck repaired. So for him it was a breeze...and for me, I got a much better job from a more attentive 'beater.

a few years ago I saw a nice one roll across the block in A.C.
with the beach vibe going on turquoise and white
a long board on the roof rack and it hit 24.5 no reserve.

Shame, this dumbass is putting the nail in the coffin on these busses. By time he dies, so will have all the remaining Twinkie Mobile fans. All this so his family can unload it for pennies after his dumbass kicks the bucket.

yeah the camels straw is him charging 500 bucks to see whats there,
when he should be overjoyed if Anyone showed up to look at that junk to begin with.....

and, looking at those bodies the one thing i noticed,
was the abundance of rust around every piece of glass in those vans = scrap.

o,and happy ending to my car sale story.
first guy showed up today, took one look paid full price.
hes happy im happy.
it only took over 1900 hits to get one solid guy.........
