WTB Wanted: 68-69 Hemi B-body

In a year plus of looking, I've given up trying to find a suitable AAR Cuda, so I'm sticking with what I know best which are B-bodies.

My preferences in no particular order are ....

68-69 69 Hemi Road Runner
68-69 Hemi GTX
68-69 Hemi Super Bee
68 Hemi Charger

Numbers matching and an original (or nearly all original) sheet metal car are big plusses. No preference on transmission. Must be as close to factory stock as possible.

Will consider an a/c equipped car, 1969 Rallye Green car, 383, 440 and convertibles, but no major project cars.

I prefer to buy from a private individual, not from an overpricing dealer who knows nothing about the car that they are selling. My tastes are discriminating and funds are available for the right car.

When you are looking, and have funds available, it seems nothing comes up.

At least that was my experience. Baby Blue the second time around being the one exception. Hope you do better.

As you are probably aware, cars of the quality you expect go to BJ or Mecum. That's where they bring the money. Sellers know that, buyers in your league know that. And so do you. Auctions are a great place to dump a car for max $$$ but as you are aware truly suck for the buyer. Cliff in SC has a nice 440 68 GTX that would be a decent buy. Silver, floor shift auto. Might be a possibility.

Three of my former GTXs ended up on the auction circuit. I consigned one to Mecum in 2020, sold it private party after covid cancelled the event that year. All were really nice cars, and brought strong auction money for what they were. My last two were a step above. One, a numbers matching Hemi, the other a heavily optioned 440 car.

What set the last two cars apart from the earlier ones, is that they both have extremely strong provenance, in addition to their excellent equipment and condition. Neither has ever been to an auction or a dealer after being sold new, private party deals only. I'm pretty sure this level is what RC is seeking. They're out there, for the right buyer.
