I posted this under off topic and got told to bring it over here. Probably a good idea.

I have a mechanic guy that comes over and helps and we finally restarted the Charger. Here's the skinny. I bought this thing about 10 years ago. It's a pretty original car. Under 100K miles. When I got it, it had a 440 with a spun bearing but the purchase included the original numbers matching 383. I had the 383 hp rebuilt and installed. Very original except for the headers so I bought some original exhaust manifolds. I didn't install them though. I also have the original carb not installed. It's a real 500 so it's a strange mix of performance and luxury. I redid the front buckets. It has a console and floor shift, what's that called? Slap Stick? Power brakes, Power steering, AC, power windows, and hideaways. I had the black vinyl top removed and had it repainted with the original Hemi Orange. We put a new full exhaust on it when the engine was mounted. The engine has run for about 2 minutes since its rebuild. It hasn't been driven since it rolled into the garage after paint. One negative aspect is the front left fender was replaced so the tag is long gone. I mean it's not an R/T with a Hemi so it shouldn't matter too much. If any of you have a '71 500 I'd be interested in hearing from you.

We're putting the trim pieces back on after paint. It's crazy that I've let it sit this long! I'm gonna have a long list of parts I need so if you have '71 stuff watch for my WTB ads. I'm going to get it done and then sell it but I have no idea what I'm going to ask for it yet. I'll post some pics as soon as I get it wiped off.

A couple of things I see I'm going to need to start: Since it no longer has a black vinyl top I need chrome window glass trim for the rear window. If someone can trade for the textured black ones I'd be happy to send you mine. We can find the chrome piece from the front windshield. It's a real little corner that fits in the passenger's side bottom corner of the windshield. I'll need a chrome trunk lock. I have the latch inside just none of the other parts. I need the two pigtail plug-ins for the front signal light and the side marker. I have the wiring and the lamps just not the plastic connectors. I need three of the bezels that go around the side marker light. The type has two rectangles so I can paint them body color.

PLEASE KEEP AN EYE ON THIS THREAD SINCE THERE WILL BE A LOT MORE I NEED.!!

Hello SteveSS,
I suggest you contact Jimmy Boros at http://airgrabber.com/

I purchased a 1971 Super Bee that was a project car with lots of missing parts and parts needing replacement or refurbishment.

Jimmy has been incredibly helpful with providing parts, wiring harnesses, etc. needed to complete my car.

Sincerely,
Jim

I have rear stainless trim and I need the rear textured trim. The trim is in excellent shape, no dents or bends but needs to be polished.

We've made some progress since I took these photos last week. I found I do need 3 of the side marker light bezels. The ones with the two horizontal rectangles.

It has 97K original miles.

Since my fender tag is missing these are what I think are options above the 500 package.

383 4 bbl Hp
fender marker blinkers
concealed headlamps
Automatic Trans
AC
PS Included?
PW
PB 4 wheel drums. Included?
Console floor shift
323 gears not sure if it's a sure grip yet.
Vinyl roof. I removed it and had the car painted all Hemi Orange
Chrome mirrors? Were both sides standard?
Magnum wheels

I have some side markers, just have to figure out where I put them.
my '71 Charger 500 was a 383 4-bbl, 727, 8-3/4 open with 3.23:1 gears, and the 3/4 vinyl roof that stopped at the B-piller.
Also has the buckets and center console with slap stick. Had the basic AM radio, but I found an original AM/FM multiplex radio at a speed shop in the used parts area (back in the 1980's. Paid $5 for it!)

Nice project. I once had a triple green 71 Charger 500. It was a Texas car and the cleanest most solid car I have ever had. Wish I would have kept it. Wish I kept them all.....

The fender tag is on the INNER fender which is a welded on part but they are still commonly missing. Have you looked for a broadcast sheet, common place is stuck in the bottom of the rear seat but there are other places as well?

Are you saying the fender tag is welded on? I have never seen that, they are always held on with 2 Philips head screws, I believe #8.

Correct, the fender tag is held on with two screws but it is attached to the welded on inner fender not the bolt on fender. The OP stated the fender tag was missing due to the left fender being replaced.

I bought some off ebay but thanks. I'm still trying to reach Wile E. Coyote. Jimmy ahs turned out to be a grat help. I have hideaways. It turns out that wasn't an option on 500s. Now I have to find the shorter headlight holders.
