What are these braces for?

Does anybody know anything about the braces that are circled? What are they for? What are they called? Does an aftermarket company make them? They are located in the trunk on the tail light panel. I have two 68 Chargers one has them the other does not. I've looked at pictures on the internet and seems to be no rhyme or reason why some have them and some don't.

What's your production date? Early build Chargers (prior to 12/67) had them. You probably have the "skeletal" inner trunk lid frame too. Check out post #4 & #5 here...

From what I understand, the trunk floor pan is also different around the area of the fuel fill hole.
Thanks for the help. The car I have with the braces is an early build, but it doesn't have the skeletal trunk lid. Assuming it has been replaced some where along the line.

So how about the filler tube area. Any differences? If so, a picture of the area would be nice. Please and thanks. No reason. Just curious. Never heard of those before but anything is possible with Ma Mopar.
