We finaly got our BelvII home and got to looking at everything....this is the ONLY things on the engine....its a 383 or something...this is eveything thats on the pad under the distributer....as it reads also

The V tells us this engine was for a 1964 model car. The 36 tells us it's a 361. The 87 would be the engine assembly date. If it only says 8 7 this means the engine was assembled August 7th of 1963.
 
The 'B' engine and can be identified by the cubic inches stamped on the right side of the block deck adjacent to the distributor.The RB engine has the engine size stamped on a pad at the left front of the engine adjacent to the front tappet rail. All 'B' and 'RB' distributors are at the right front of the engine.
