I put a set of new BFG tires on a nice set of the later style Road wheels on my 1967 R/T about 20 years ago. Now I am getting close to replacing the tires. I have been thinking my wheels are 14x6s. But, I have been reading that the original Mopar wheels are 14x5-1/2. Before I dismount the old tires to measure the width, and order new tires, am I incorrect in thinking they could be 14x6? Were 14x6s ever a factory width?

Anything that works on a 6" will be fine on a 5.5", and vice versa. Pick the tire size you want. 1/2 is meaningless, unless you are trying to fit huge tires and clearance is tight.

The road wheels in 1969-1971 were all 14x5.5”
14x6 started in1972, but they still made the 5.5 also.

road wheels are the 5 spoke center with a trim ring.

OK, thanks for the info. I have no idea what years these wheels are. I guess I better take one off and measure it before I order new tires. I want to go up one size, but not if the rim width would be wrong for the tires.

I’m talking about the road wheels. The steel wheels in 1970 would have been 14x6.

225/70R14 fit just fine on a 5.5” rim. I have several cars like that.

Your car hasn’t been around forever, only 1969 Or 70. Look at the wheels and get the dates off from them, then we will know what year they are from.

I’m talking about a photo of the 1969 or 1970 dates and the 14x6 stamp.

In other words I don’t believe you, no offense. I would like for you to show us the proof on the wheels. There is nothing in the 1970 parts book that goes along with what you are typing.

Ok no offensive taken but not dismounting at this time but maybe in the spring. Please remember with Mopar anything is possible
