What the heck are these things ??

They actually look like adjustable feet for some type of machine, maybe had rubber pads covering them. Just a thought.

I keep looking at them and I'm thinking that I have seen them somewhere before. The adjustable feet theory is worth considering. They would be ones without their rubber pad attached. Reminds me of ones I had on a commercial freezer case...

what's with trying to turn an innocent joke into something political?

It's not political, it's truth that is funny....

metric system

"1.A communists way of measuring
2.A threat to the U.S.A.

A system of measurement used by most of the world and propagated by pompous and pathetic Europeans/Asians/etc. who lack understanding of mathematics.

While you will find most socialist, war-losing Europeans talking about how the metric system is too hard for Americans to understand, is funny because the metric system is in place because of EASE OF USE. The imperial system of measurement is far more difficult and requires more thorough knowledge. That 12 inches are in 1 foot, 5280 feet in 1 mile. While the rest of the world was too idiotic to comprehend that, they developed a system of 10s to help them feel better about losing wars."

I keep thinking I've seen them before also. They appear to be designed to set flush in a countersunk hole

Yeah, I guess they do. Maybe I'll go look at a spare fender up the hill and report back on that.

My cats been looking for those.

Damn cat burglar

Believe it or not I lost sleep over this one last night. I'm that way.
It's the ******* cross slot on the one side that makes it look familiar to me. I'll be damned if my old brain can remember where I know it from.

High end race valvespring retainers that had weight-reduction notches specially machined in the tops..
(Ok back to the serious replies:p)

Meh, most of us that have been required to to think for a living have learned to be bi-lingual when it comes to measurements.

Come to think of it, they look like the retaining tabs that you get with a trans fluid or oil cooler, the kind that you mount in front of your radiator and then you use their zip tie thingies... those pieces look like the part that you slide on the front of the zip tie thingy to secure the cooler to the radiator...

At first I thought they look similar to seat mount fittings that thread from under the car onto the seat bolts but the cross notch says it’s something else.

Yeah, it is a mystery.

I mess with a lot of junk...sadly they don't look familiar...but around here they'd get used up to do something they weren't designed for...Most likely become a threaded insert to weld inside a frame or bracket...Then again I don't throw too much away...
