I use this with gloves. 20201129_100941-1.jpg
And if I get it on my hands, it's doesn't dry out my skin. Like gojo hand cleaner. But everyone has different reactions to the same chemicals.

I used paint thinner for years but the price has gotten high enough that I now buy the stuff from Safety-Kleen. It has a higher flash point and doesn't evaporate as fast as paint thinner.

Not sure what it’s called in the ‘states but I use Varsol. The name brand stuff is expensive but the hardware store stuff is the same product but cheaper. Between my work as a painter and working on my wanna Bee I go through lots of it. The used up stuff I put in an old steel five gallon pail and let it sit. After a month or so it settles out and is clear again. It’s not perfectly clear but fine for cleaning parts.

TractorSuppyCo has something similar to the old Super Agitene, but its considerably cheaper.... evaporation rate seems really good too.

Why do you want any of these chemicals on your skin? Wear gloves. Save your kidneys and organs the abuse. It could sneak up on you over time. DAMHIK

yes they limit dexterity, but just do it.

I have Safety Kleen service my tank about every ten years now days. I don't rebuild nearly as many transmissions as I used to.

When I was a young fella ( circa 72) we used gas straight from the pump to clean the service station floors where I worked when I wasn't in school... The "ARCO" rep came in and did a demonstration with a pipe that had two electrodes on it... He dropped in 3 drops of gas then about a minute later he ran a comb through his hair and touched one of the electrodes... Talk about a KABOOM, and all he used was static electricity to set it off.... Gave me alot of respect for petroleum products.........

My tank holds 35+ gallons. It is a commercial unit my dad got from the local Dodge dealer but, later downsized his business and I got it. I worked for the same Dodge dealer (family friend) after my dad got the tank and we used the bottom section of a 30 gallon barrel half filled with a gasoline/kerosene mix. When it was dirty we tossed it out back over a bank! A city block from the river! Ahh, the bad old days.

Finally decided on Tractor Supply " Parts Cleaner" , it's cheaper than mineral spirits which is what I'm told most parts cleaner is. Works very well and doesn't evaporate as much as the mineral spirits I had been using, which is a big plus in AZ.

I use mineral spirits too but been a long time since having to buy any and will probably go with something else next time if I live that long. Don't really like the way mineral spirits smells.

This is what I use. Made in Mexico so you know they are a step above
Cheena stuff LOL $24 for a dozen, not too bad really. Web search it, for sale all over the Internet. Safety supply places.

Rinse them off with water or soap and water when done will keep them in better shape. But they do get stiff after a while.
