It's obviously an SE by the vinyl top...

But...it's a WH23 car which is NOT an SE VIN (should be WP29).

However, it is a 400 4 speed car per the VIN and fender tag.
...and a rallye car per the V21.

Owner claims unmolested survivor.

Is this a re-tag or a complete oddball?

I was looking at that one this morning. Tag shows no vinyl top and to add SE trim to a hardtop is a lot of work. I cannot find any docs that say the SE top was optional on a hardtop. First thing I would be interested in is the body stamps. Price is stupid.

True Rallye car would have A57 on the tag and build sheet. Phoenix Graphics was making the Rallye stripes in the early 20000's. Definitely :fool: if he is trying to get 60k for this.

Looks like an Overpriced '73 Charger. With a Mediocre looking Blonde Girl. Good Luck.

Build sheet under group "A" is "57", so this is a Rallye car. As stated, Lynch Road cars most often did not included A57 on the tag as with all sorts of other codes they left off compared to St. Louis cars.

Also, per build sheet the top is "TX9" which is black paint, not vinyl. I'm not super good with build sheets so I wonder if someone more proficient can see any other clues as the SE top on a WH car?

Cool enough to be a black, 400, 4speed, Rally with AC.

I think the 400, 4 speed and fender tag may have been swapped onto an SE body.

...although the door sticker is there.

Hmmm.

agree with one exception. LR tags did not code A57.

...unless it's an SE with a rallye fender tag.

Repainted and a 68 440 with a 6bbl? And it’s a survivor?

not on a LR car like this one.
The more I look at this one, the more I start guessing if it may have been ordered this way, or was it very nicely put together after market. But I do like it.

Price is out there, I just can’t say which planet it’s on... The car looks nice but I’d have to see it in person and run the numbers before I’d think about a dollar amount, unless there is heavy documentation...

Wheres Nacho.....please way in on this one. I am working on a 73, 400, 4 speed as this one. This one has my grill, which is not a SE grill, correct. Didn't SE cars get the chrome grill with the red/gray center strip. My fender tag also has 056 at the top. I was told that code was for a 400, 4 barrel non AC car.....and this one was does have ac. Does AC show up on the build sheet. Do you think a dealer could have found a "new" 68 block, 440 six in 73....or they stuck in a used/rebuild engine.....unusual for sure....

No SixPak in 68 or 73. SE cars did get the red bar and the chrome accent whilst the Rallye and base chargers got argent paint on the grill. That is an SE opera window on that one. AC does show on the build sheet. I would say this is a restored car that has parts from other cars on an original SE body. No way is this a survivor.

IMO they went to a LOT of trouble and it wouldn't surprise me if the body VIN stampings have been welded in.

However, the "29 body" vinyl roof (note IIRC you could get a 29 SE without this roof, but not a 23 body with this roof) does not jive with the fender tag.

SE grille bars are a simple bolt in (or out).

Just because a build sheet is present does not mean it goes with this car.
It almost certainly goes with the tag, though.

I suppose scrutiny of the build sheet options versus what is on the car and if any of those have evidence of being added or removed might help settle the questions.
