What's the deal with this? 73 400 SE/Rallye??

Its beautiful Hank. You don't have the aluminum piece along the window and up the rear window as is so common. Mine has it but I'll get rid of it. The black out hood will look fine on yours is my opinion

He does, but just painted it black where it should be argent.

This old hog got painted racing mirrors from the factory!

Ok, finetuning my plans for the 74 clone. If the racin mirrors were an option, I'll keep my single remote mirror. I do the clone as I would have ordered the car. The old hog is all there. Hopefully not rusty to bad. Everything is rusty here in Minnesota

The above red rallye spent a lot of time in Minnesota! It was bought new in Fargo, North Dakota and then went to Minnesota for some time. I think I can save it. .rear frame rails are good as are the trunk and floor pans except for drivers side front pan

If the original car from this thread was a Rally coupe, vice a hardtop Charger, it would not have roll-down rear windows, just like an SE. Only the hardtops had the roll-downs, so SE window louvers could be easily added to the interior and exterior glass. The SE top would be an easy conversion if the owner desired - used chrome strips and Legendary top with correct grain vinyl.

I believe a "21" body is quite a bit different than a "29" body.

I've been inside all three (21, 23, 29).

21 and 23 are very similar- that conversion is relatively easy. Everything is a bolt in.
29 is WAY, and I mean WAY different. The drip rail is even different and so is the weatherstrip.

...and original car has a 23 fender tag but a 29 roof.

Could you tell me the difference's between the 21 and 23 body's. I've seen stripped down govnm'nt issue Chargers with no role down windows, radio delete and 3 0n the tree

23 is hard top with roll down rear windows

21 is sedan/coupe with stationary (or possibly pop-out as 68-70 B body) rear windows

29 is SE or "fast top", and may or may not have roll down (or pop-out) windows depending on other factors.
(67-69 Barracuda fastback 29 body has roll down, Duster- all 29's have pop-out, 72 Charger is small roll down with a spot welded metal plug, but 73/74 Charger is elaborate stationary with a plastic plug and as noted above different drip rail etc... just to give a few examples)

Also the method of achieving stationary windows on a 21 body can vary from as simple as a different glass pane and absence of mechanism but using the same weather striping, to full on sedan with posts around the door glass and a "B" pillar.

Fascinating read on the stripes. I've never owned one of these cars and likely never will, but I like them and until I read this thread I had no idea that correct stripes were not available. Thanks for broadening my horizons gents.

WL21 or coupe is the plain jane model. Basic trim finish and fixed glass mounted on a bracket Althought same look and structure than a Hardtop.

Then it comes WH23 as Hardtop, and WP29 as SE with the louvers on quarters.

ALTHOUGHT on 73 you could get a WP29 with the Roll Down quarter glass as an option and still would be WP29
