Are the wheel well sizes for our model years (62-65) close in size?

Any ideas which are largest and smallest? I'm just doing some figurin'.

Thanks.

I haven't done any measuring but it looks to me that there was more outer room on my 64 than in this 62. I haven't tackeled which tire is going to fit under her just yet.
There are numerous members on here with 62s and I'm hoping they would chime in on what they are useing...

I'm going to try 275/60/15 on a 15x8 wheel with backspace of 4.25" on the rear of 62 Polara next week. The backspace is somewhat concerning but only option offered on the wheel I wanted.

If no fit then my option will be 255/60/15.

Tell ya, I went through all sorts of measuring on my 63 Fury wanting to put the largest tire set on it I could having more concern about the front clearance. Taking it to a friend who does alignment work getting it on his rack was surprised to see the available room. I put on Coker Mag wheels 15"x7" with P235/60R Goodrich radials. Backspacing available was 4.25". My regret is not going to the 8" wheels in the rear for the look I wanted but pretty close. In fact with the 235's there might be actually a little more sidewall clearance with the 8" vs the 7". if anyone wants to buy a near new pair of Coker Magnums (chrome) and the tires with about 50 miles on them I'll order the 8" wheel and next size wider tire. Only other thing I should mention is the axle on my car is from a 65 Coronet taking off the original tapered shaft axle. If I recall the change over is about an inch wider overall though match up bolt on. Ron H.

I have some wheels I took off my 62 Dodge on here for sale. 2 15x7 and 2 15x8.

For my 65 Coronet my brother got hold some Weld wheels and tires for me. Backs are 15x8 with 255-60's but I believe the back spacing is only 4". I can get them on but I can't get my fingers between the tire and the outer wheel well. Since the rear end needs to be completely gone through anyway and I want to upgrade the front to disk brakes. We are going to put disks on the rear also and narrow the rear to fit the rims and tires.

I have Keystone Klassics on my 63 Fury they are 15x8 with 4 inch back space the tire is 275-60 the fit is great

Fitted Mopar standard steelies on my '64 sport fury stock rear axel and stock wheel wells. Tire: Hoosier 26x9 15". Wheel 15x8" 4,5" backspace. Fits really good!

Sure makes a difference in the look of your Plymouths and mine - meaner! Not our grandfather's Plymouth!

Ron, On both my '63 Sport Fury and '63 Fury I run the largest tire I have found. When I say largest I mean both in diameter and width which I've found to be the 285/70R-15. For a street tire that is 31"x 11.5 on a 7x15 wheel with 4.5 back space.

I have 30x9s on my 62 Dodge with stock wheel wells...

I will say my wheelwells on my 63 Sport Fury will fit more tire then my buddies 65 Coronet will. I have everything in stock location and I run 30 x 9 tires in the rear with plenty of room to spare. Ron

Just swapped the rearend or is the springs relocated to? Minitubed? I would like to fit a 10"x15 wheel with 3" backspace in but don't know if it fits without minitubing and move the springs.

I have 15x8 with 4.75 backspace, couldn't go any bigger backspace without tyres hitting springs...

I did the 275 on the rear and no issues. It's close but makes it. I have about a half (1/2") inch between top of tire and quarter panel.
