I have a 70 Superbee 440 in Plumcrazy. I'm thinking of putting 18X8s on the front and 20X9.5s on the back. I've put an 18X8 mock up on the front and we've decided on a 4" backspace up front with 225/45/18 tires and 275/35/20 with a 4.5" BS. Anyone see a problem with either of these? The suspension is stock BTW and the wheels are Circle Track billet Magnum 500s. My motor is NOM 440 with 6 pack Demons.

I've had one seller tell me I'd be better off with the stock 15X7 rallye wheels with argent centers and beauty rings. I'm in the process of putting Wilwood front disc brakes on without PB just manual to start with and the stock drum brakes on the rear. I'm also adding PS and Classic Air so I'm more restomod than stock although I think it looks pretty stock.

So which way would you go? And if you have some different wheels to put on it let me know. Thanks.

Should I even reply with my onion or ? Well I kinda like the Rallye in 17 inch myself. However I did buy 15x 7 Magnum 500, myself so take your pick. I think 20 inch rims do not do well on older muscle cars myself. What do you really want?

15x7's on the front and either 15x8 or 15x10 on the rear.

15x10 look awesome on the roadrunner. 15x 10 is ehhh on the 71-74 charger. more wheel well on your car. so it can handle it with the 5 1/2 offset. it all boils down to how much of a chrome lip you like showing on the outside. here is my charger with 15x10 295 50 Yokohama tires 2014-02-10_22.12.00.jpg

YOWZA, those must be 22s on the rear...way too much.
I think staggered sizes look the best, up-sized 1" in the rear, 2" at the most with larger diameters (over 19"). 17 & 18s would be the largest diameter wheels I'd put on a classic muscle car unless you're wanting to be outrageous and/or edgy. On a full sized land yacht 20s don't look so bad as long as they're tucked up into the wheelwells. After that, **** just starts to get ridiculous.

Give me a nice set of Cragar SS or Keystone Classics with a 15x10 on the rear and as big a tire as you can tuck under the fender wells. On the front go with a 15x6 or 15x7 and again fill the wheel well but with neither sticking out past the fenders. That's the old school way and looks like it should. Just my opinion.

15 X 8 with 235 tires will fill your wheel wells up nicely IMHO. bee8.jpg

225/70 14's front. 295/50 15's rear. 8 inch rims. 20's wrong genre for 60's 70's Mopar.

Now if you have to get at least 18 inch to clear the brakes, then it is different:) Now 50 dollar question, raised white letters or blackwall, if RWL then need 15 inch.

I need an 18 inch to clear my Wilwood rotors. But I was thinking about 18s all around. You guys have me thinking about staying with the rallye's but I'll have to forget the disc rotors I have. I'm just going to stick with the same plan. Thanks. I'll try and shoot some pics when I've got it all together.

But does anyone know where to get decent handling-performance tires in big sizes for a 15" wheel? I like the 15 look, but I really want somthing that handles better than these BFG's! All I can find is drag tires, or 225's. Anyone have any idea how the Mickey Thompson tires like the ET Streets handle in the corners? NASCAR did 200 mph in circles on 15's, so there MUST be something (other than Goodyear Racing Slicks)!

With bigger front brakes you just have to adjust things around and see where it all stops. If that means different offsets, then so be it. The Chevelle guys seem to like the hydroboost system for more power braking without pulling leg muscles. Sometimes after trying several different boosters beforehand.

I cant comment on size but this guy got it right in my opinion. While i do dig and appreciate the stock factory wheel sizes i think these B bodies look great with some 18's on them. This is the look i am going for with my 69 RR build.

I hope mine looks that good. I have decided to use 17s on it.

The Sportsman S/T in 15" has only a T rating so not rated more than about 120 mph.

The ET Street Radial is supposed to be drag strip tires only dry pavement but I've used them but not at great speeds. That's all I know about the radials unless you're talking drag radials.

Take a look at the Hammer of Steve Strope. Personally I wouldn't go bigger then 19's on the rear. I'm restoring my Satellite like the Hammer and also looked at the way to go with the backspacing, etc.

Fronts 18x8 with 4" BS and 19x10 with 4.5" BS on the rear would fit fine with stock suspension...

Looking foward to see the pictures!
