Electrically it will function fine connected on either side.

I agree - it doesn't matter. You can turn the ballast resistor upside down & plug the wires in backwards and it will work just the same.

And for some more information that might help.... Blue wire coming out of the bulkhead disconnect (3 big multi-wire plugs near master cylinder) is 12volts coming from the ignition switch. That 12-voltes gets "stepped down" to 7-volts (or something? can't remember exactly) by going through the ballast resistor on its way to the ignition coil. This wire has power when the ignition switch is turned to "run".

The brown wire (part of your "double" wire plug) also comes out of the bulkhead disconnect & also comes from the ignition switch. It will connect on the "other side" of the ballast resistor (so it doesn't go through the resistor, it bypasses it). The brown wire never gets "stepped down" in voltage and is hot only when the ignition switch is turned to "start".

Basically, the ignition runs on the "stepped down" voltage, but only when you're trying to start the engine, the ignition gets the "full 12 volts" from the brown wire by bypassing the ballast resistor to help the engine start easier.

thank you again.

I don't know :). Bought it 2 months ago an just started disassembling.... Lets see where is the dash.... Looks like there are 3 clicks plus off on the wiper switch.
