Both my front windows I can roll all the way up but when I release the handle they slide down about an inch. PITA when I'm washing it I get water inside, is there anyway to make an adjustment?
Could be, I haven't pulled the panels yet figured I would ask hereDo you think your window mechanisms are worn out?
Through the years I have noticed if you clean them aggressively they lose their normal locking function.....
I'll pull it apart this weekend and let you know, thanksIf you find out you need cranks I can help you out.....
There are a few things that add drag to your window mechanisms to keep them extended ( at the top) and when you remove one you will see the problem. The outer plate drags on the inner plate leaving a clean path where grease used to be. If rivets loosen, as they do over time, there will not be enough drag here. Check how loose the contact is between these layered plates. There are also helical springs in some mechanisms that may have a broken end or come unseated. They also counter balance the weight of the window at the point where the arms scissor. If this is the only problem you have, and decide to remove the mechanism, mark the location of every bolt head on the inside metal door with a Sharpy by circling the head. Do not move the "in/out" position of the tracks even the slightest, the bolts that do this have an Allen head to hold the bolt while you remove the nut. Consult your FSM to ensure you don't disturb the window alignment while removing the mechanism. Good luck. Both my front windows I can roll all the way up but when I release the handle they slide down about an inch.
