1969 RR......Is there such thing as an extension or aftermarket window crank handle that would be an inch or so further away from the door panel? I have installed door speakers and every grille I try gets hit by the window crank handle....

No such thing that I know of. Only thing I know to try is a C body vent window crank, it's a inch or so shorter.

Unfortunately, 1" shorter still won't clear it, but thanks

Maybe someone on a C body forum can tell you how much shorter they are. That's just a guess.

Did that on my first 70 Satty drop top back in 1980. Drove it 4 years without being able to open the windows all the way unless i left the screw off, and kept taking the handle on and off and rotating to clear the speaker. A real pain in the :carrot:

But I did have KICK *** TUNES !!!!

Check out the late model car & pickup truck cranks on eBay. Brand new, something like 1” more clearance, nos and only about $10 each. And they’re Mopar. I countersunk the speakers in the door and made custom covers.

get a set from an '80s Dodge truck. They curve away from the panels, have them on my car.

I did not see extra clearance cranks on Ebay, but will look again...what did you make your speaker covers from? They look great!
Window crank #3882765, it’s a 1” total clearance. The black plastic spacer is 5/16” thick and I can’t remember where they can from. Didn’t come with the handles but may be what was used.
Speakers were made from “premanufactured wood” or something like that. Got it at Home Depot and sold in small panels. 1/4” is very sturdy and I squeezed the speaker between 2 pieces for rigidity. Speaker grill is same material, I cut it oval because it looked good. I used the original speaker grill’s metal grill (lost the plastic frame) and countersunk that in the hole. BUT first covered it with material from Hobby Lobby. Look for something thin. It took a while but (and Thanks) it blended in very nicely. I had to redo mine until I was satisfied. Good luck.

It shows a solution is out there.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the input.....bought a set of window crank handles for 1982 dodge pickup off Amazon, around 10 bucks, fit perfect! Cleared the speaker grilles with ease!

pull handle off put washer in the handle and get longer screw. it will still have plenty of teeth on the inside.
