Wining- from rear or wheel bering?

My 69 Sport Satellite SW.
After about 15-20 miles I hear a intermintent wine-hum from the rear area.
Pulling a 2380lb trailer also.

Maybe take a trip. Get things heated up. Point your laser temp gauge at the usual suspects. See what's hot.
 
I would check the rear end dope/gear lube first. Jack the car up pull in and out on each wheel. See how much play you have should not be much. Other than that it could be the rear gears whining under load. I'm sure there are people on here that know more than me. But that's where I would start.

I had a Audi once with a couple wheel bearings go bad - but they only howled going around a corner. I suspect they could have been ball bearing type. Not sure if the same holds true with tapered roller bearings.
