With Warranty/Service Replacement Engines did dealers put the correct HP cams in them for example with a 383 HP or 440 HP car etc?

Just wondering. With Warranty/Service Replacement Engines back in the day did dealers actually install the correct HP cams in a 383 HP or 440 HP etc? Or did the warranty engines come with just a generic 383 or 440 cam?

They would have the correct camshaft per application. Most of the time it was a short block and any needed parts would be transferred or replaced. Again all by the correct application. If it was a 383, 335hp those would be the parts used. Same with a 440 if 375hp those would be the parts used. Long blocks under warranty took approval.

Let's say that you had a 70 Road Runner 383, 5 year 50,000 mile factory warranty and August of 71 or June of 72, a rod comes loose and windows the block. No more 2468130 383's are being produced. What block casting with what CID short block would be replaced under warranty? Possibly a 3614230 short block only bored to 4.25. If it's July of 74 and you crater your 383 with 45k miles you'd probably get 3698630 400CID block and would it be a 4.25 bore?
Is there any documentation as to when the 2468130 ceased production. Any ideas on how many would have been 'overproduced' for warranty purposes, if any, or would they have ceased production entirely in late July early August of 70 in the run-up for new 71 model year 400's?

A good friend of mine bought a 69 GTX new off the lot, street raced it allot & took it to the track a few times.... Kicked a rod in 1970.. They warrantied it but the car was .8 slower then it had been with the original engine...

I'm sure they had a reasonable handle on and had a formula for how many "spares" to keep on hand.
