I just picked up a late 68 440 hp2 short block. Rotating assembly is still installed in it. Vin says it came out of a gtx. It's a strong core for a rebuild. Any thoughts on price?

What if I didn't pay anything for it? Does that mean it's worthless?

More information.
Standard?
Stock or previous rebuild?
Balancer still on it?
Other information.

If it has a VIN stamp, post a picture of it...slim chance but if the car exists and the owner wants the original engine, you have some bargaining leverage. Super-long shot? Sure, but wonderfully strange things happen all the time!

x2 Looking for the original motor to my GTX in fact.

VIN is RS23L9C144796.

A G indicating the St. Louis plant is correct. GTX's were built at Lynch Road, St. Louis and LA plants.

"C" indicates the Jefferson plant. That plant built Chryslers and Imperials.

Hard to read, was stamped low.
