I played the field a bit before getting married in the 90s. In between the divorce and meeting Mary, I played a bit more. I learned from watching other dudes make mistakes with women so I didn't get too deeply involved with troubled women.
In short, I was lucky to see what we often call red flags in the women I dated.
One told me that she already had 2 abortions and a third one might render her sterile.
Another mentioned that her jealous and manipulative boyfriend was in prison and because of that, she felt she needed to date a different type of guy.
In the age of Internet personals, the flags were there as well.
Many didn't want to admit to their weight. "Why does that matter?"
One didn't want to go bike riding, walking or anything that meant moving off the couch.
Rhonda scoffed at me when I showed up in my Duster....."I'm used to being seen in something nice."
Dena claimed that most of her encounters were drunken one night stands. On a date at The Olive Garden, she gazed at the wine cart every time the waiter pushed it through the restaurant.
What are your stories?

I remember reading in Mad magazine one time on signs a woman is crazy. One of the signs is that she weighs under 110lbs.

Don’t date a nurse. They are only good at caring for others at work, not their significant other.

Since I've been single, for more than 20 years now
I'm very selective on my choices
#1 no young kids
#2 no ex-husband or child support problems
#3 no bitchy whinny/controlling older children,
#4 no single & divorced bitter women girlfriends,
all hanging around all the time, souring the lady I'm dating not them
#5 no money problems, dealbreaker if they can't balance a checkbook
#6 living check to check or welfare/foodstamp cases
#7 just needing a daddy/husband to pay their bills

Must like dogs

All that list, has served me pretty damn well, since Lisa

plenty of fish in the sea

I don't need/want to settle down with any of them
I did that already
And at my age, I find it more hassles than it's worth now
I still like getting laid, but the baggage that comes with most of them
just ain't worth the time effort & $$$

I'm not looking for a wife, not right now anyway
I had a great lady, hard to get much better (Lisa)
I dated a bunch of ladies since, mostly country club gals
all nice women, classy women, kept themselves up very well
but not what I'm looking for
many are too needy, or clingy

I've taken a break 'sort of' too

My life has far less stress because of it

I don't need a woman or lots of them
to make me whole, some guys seem to be helpless without one
I'm not one of them guys
& I'm happy 'the way my life is'

I have enough on my plate right now

If the right one came along, maybe
otherwise, I see way too many strange ladies
too many red-flags stop-signs red-lights, flashing warning lights
or they are just too young, as much as I like to see them
spending 'quality time' is a different thing altogether

No Fat chicks' huge red-flag
never ever, that's a total deal-breaker PERIOD

I did have 1 long-term relationship (since Lisa)
Honey over 10 years, really nice lady
but she has baggage,
like most all of them do,
she had 2 short marriages, 2 real "real douchebags"
2 different kids, from 2 different men...
She was 13 years younger than I am (she's 49 now)
Her son he's in his later 20's now & I
we got along great, we'd golf together & he'd come & work in my garage
Now her daughter was a spoiled brat (red-flag)
She's a teen now 19, just graduated HS
Honey, she's really into her career now, she went back to school
late in life, accounting/administrative stuff, workaholic now...
She found a better life, I'm glad,
she likes the city/more jobs, cheap apartments, local shopping, night life :blah:

I'm in the country
Not going back

that became a long-distance relationship
that's a red-flag too

like I said;
lots of fish in the sea

I slammed the brakes on and wheeled to the curb when on a first date and the woman mentioned her husband. Another stated how she hated having to work.

When they tell you they are divorced because they cheated on their husband.....
And I learned this the hard way.... You shoulda seen her boobs though.. Magnificent....

Don’t date girls you find at Walmart or cruise the local high schools for dates.
