Your 'Guide' to the 727/904 transmission

Hello, having a problem and I would like to see what the thoughts are. So, here is my dilemma. Finally got to take my car (67 Charger 383HP with 727 Auto) out for a short drive to check all after sitting for a couple years as I worked on the interior. Noticed some "slippage" in the transmission after driving a couple miles, so drove back to my garage. Pulled into my garage and shut off the car. Noticed a slight "sweet" smell so opened the hood and checked the trans fluid. Fluid level was low and had a slight burned smell. I then added some fluid and tested level with car running in neutral. Now attempted to shift into drive or reverse and nothing, no moving at all. Left the car sit for a while to cool down then started it back up. Car now shifts into drive and reverse but after about 2 minutes, doesn't engage in any gear. Turn off for a couple minutes, start back up and repeats (shifts then not). I have some thoughts and want to see if I am on the right track. Changing the fluid and filter? Pump is in need of rebuild? Complete rebuild? Or????
I'm no expert, but some clutches may have been burned up. Happened to me in my van last year.....too many burnouts.

Luckily, with a new clutch pack and a gasket kit, new fluid it's as good as new now.

Yeah was thinking that but going to drop the trans pan and see. Local transmission guy thinks it is just a clogged filter, since I am getting some action in the beginning. Going to try that first, and also see if I have any metal in the pan.

Throttle pressure linkage. I opted to use the aftermarket cable instead of the factory linkage, which I couldn't locate. The cable, which is what the seller said would work, is just too short. This setup gives positive throttle pressure lever movement at all times. I did this for the reason of more control, put a spring on the lever to allow more control of the slack of the cable. BTW, this is a big block re-engine, from a factory small block.

Does anyone have pictures of the cable housing mounting points? Where I have mine on the transmission tail shaft has used up a lot of cable.

I found a new cable setup on Summit for $160. It looks like it might fit better than the suggested thirty-dollar one. But I'm quite shy about ending up with the same mess. What stuns me is why anybody would sell one that's really too short? I looked up several videos on this setup on YT, but the poster only gives where he bought, not what model. Any input from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
