WOW!!! Please post some more pictures of your beautiful house. Simply gorgeous.

Ok, so...I got ridiculously lucky when I found this house. I was looking to move after my divorce, and told my realtor "I need a place with a garage". We'd scheduled a showing at one place that turned out to be...meh. She'd seen one of those "take one" flyer holders in front of a place not too far away, so we called to schedule a showing and got "sure, I'm here, come on by". Total spur-of-the-moment. So...we did.

0702210902.jpg

I planted the trees along the driveway, didn't like the "1200 foot runway through a field" look...
0702210900_HDR.jpg

I also paved the drive, it was gravel and sport motorcycles and gravel don't get along too well.

So, we walk through the house and it is a-MAY-zing. 3-section crown molding. 3-section baseboard. Custom oak flooring. Live fireplace converted to gas. Finished basement. Main floor laundry and a full bath on the main floor. 19" thick exterior walls (stone shell over double-2x6-studs). Andersen thermopane windows with storms. Nothing creaked. Nothing popped. Built like a tank. I was in love.

Then....

0702210859.jpg

The garage. Built like a bank barn. 6 spots below. Unfinished 2 bedroom apartment above (studs and trusses). And a workshop behind (to the left in the photo, nearest the trailer).

Turns out, the guy who built it was a custom home builder by trade...and he built this for himself, finished it in 1987. Met his sons, and they told me about "the summer" - they spent the season running an ATV with a cart, back into the woods and pulling stone from an old stone fence...and those are now the walls of the house. He laid them all by hand. He was a builder by trade...but a carpenter by hobby, and he MADE all the trim, and the custom flooring. Attention to detail is like nothing I'd ever seen before.

He had passed, the kids were grown, and the widow just didn't need all the space. So we struck a deal and the rest is history. She did well on the sale and I got a great price, because they had next to nothing in the place because he built it himself.

And you can't beat the view from the porch.

The only downside? Its in Maryland...but maybe one day we'll be a free state (or I'll give up and move to one)! For now though, I'm on 4 acres and I can shut people out when they aggravate me

Wow, that's an awesome place you have! Having laid plenty of sandstone on our home I can't imagine doing a full 2 stories in it:eek:! That's intense work, collecting, washing, chiseling, laying!!!

Looks like paradise:thumbsup:

Wow,wow, wow; superb. Totally spectacular, I wouldn't change a thing and if it were mine, I don't think I would ever leave home. Where to build the bar,(maybe more than one), would be the question. Gorgeous! :drinks::thumbsup::drinks:

Beautiful home and property, but man-o-man, that's a lot of grass to cut!

If he mows it would he ever get off the mower. You'd need a tractor with an 8' cutting bar in front and one one each side.
What a place, need to hit the lottery. I'm sinning right now, I'm envious .

I guess its my turn.:)
My name is Ty. The screen name I used is because we have a 71 4 speed Curious yellow 340 Duster. I say "we" because I have a twin brother (dodgebros) that is my partner in most of our endeavors.. Most our cars are a project to one degree or another... with a emphasis more on going fast then looks:rolleyes: that includes two 69 chargers, 72 charger, 72 satellite, 71 Duster, 65 Dart gt, 73 roadrunner, 69 superbee. We once drag raced every weekend and have built more engines and transmissions then I can remember. Now we are too busy it seems. We are both engineers and have manufacturing company and we started selling machinery for the first time last year after 24 years of creating custom "one of" machines. We hold several patents and farm together. We are selling a collection system that harvests the flower for making cbd from industrial hemp. It also has many other applications.
