I changed out Fred's gears to 3.55's when I got him to the point where I could drive him and that's fine - as others have said, 65 is about 3000RPM going down the highway in 4th, but he isn't a distance runner (least not, with all that LOUD 3" exhaust under there cooking the occupants...)...

Use Loctite bearing retainer. If there is significant side to side play, you may need to shim it first.
