MP purple cam and lifter recommended preload?

If you bled the oil out of one of your lifters & then compressed the prod seat, the total distance is the....pre-load available. Somebody mentioned 0.210" earlier in the thread. It does vary with lifter brands, but there is usually up to 0.150" or more available. You can adjust your pre-load to...

I try to get all ducks in a row before I spin the first wrench. Air tools and cordless tools help a LOT.

    8.25 upgrade

"If you didn't push it, you'd probably be okay with a 440 and automatic." That's what I run, but the axles have been shortened, disc brakes installed, plus a girdle with bearing cap reinforcement. Hooked up to a 4-link with rubber bushings. (No heims). The 8-1/4 is tougher than most give...

    440 build

Agreed. A whole lot of extra $ spent if you're just going to the grocery store. All that "be cool" stuff can be toned down with actual usage of the vehicle and a decent power to weight ratio. That 440 will perform just as well pert near stock in a lighter car.

Road trips: They highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the car.

It took me 6 weeks on my small block haha. I was waiting on stuff but it was still a genuine 2 full weekends, so 4 days. I was probably a whole afternoon draining coolant, removing radiator, removing grille, removing intake manifold, balancer, waterpump, timing cover, etc, cleaning all the old...

LemonWedge doesn’t need no stinking CHANGES! And HEMI goodness at TnT season opener.

Got the season started tonight with a quick Wednesday night TnT session, and it was an interesting one. I had the feeling at the end of last year the the car was running just a little on the lean side. Added an AFR guage over the off season, but the Bosch sensor went out after only a minute or...

My new 71 SSP! Any advice accepted!

Hello everyone! Some may remember me as I’ve been around stalking looking for a 71-72 satellite or roadrunner. Well one came up and I jumped on it! This thing runs and drives and looks great! Sadly has some frame issues I’ll show in pics. I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts on repair...

    Lowering with Leaf Spring Hangers

I made my own lowering blocks.... out of 1 1/2x2 1/2 solid billet 6061, with a tool steel pin. No complaints. But yes, you might need an angled shim to get the pinion angle you want.

    Racing in Colorado?

Yep. I'm not familiar with Northern California, but we lost AAA Fontana a year or so ago. If you include Famoso as southern california, we have four tracks, one of which (ten minutes from my house) that we can't use. (Pomona). Barona, 1/8, San Diego area, Irwindale, 1/ 8, L.A. area, and Famoso...

If I didn't degree the cam or have A/C to recharge, if the cam was a hydraulic.....Yeah, I figure 3-4 hours is possible.

Don't want to be rude, but what is your question? You've given us a brief build description of an engine , but no intended purpose or direction what you want to do. Street car, race car, truck, motorhome, what??? Like saying I bought a 750cfm carb. what do I do with it? You want suggestions? -...
