Just a little comment. I see you used cables to shift the trans. I was having trouble with my build using one. So I changed the cable to rods with heim joints. works great with no binding. has been on the car for 5 years with no broblems.

I did some checking and found out the psi at start up cold was 70-75 psi. Drove around for a half hour and it dropped to between 25 & 50 at idle, went to 70 when fever it up. Is that too high at cold start up ??
modified 440, 30 over, new cam, new flat tappit hydraulic lifters. At idle 950 rpm psi is 70. Is this type of engine need this high of psi ?
I have an adjustable pressure by pass valve but have not installed it yet. Any ideas ?

Thanks for the info. I had the total timing set too high. put 1 heavy silver spring and 1 blue, and the black bushing. set the idle at 15 and when i went to wot it went to 33 deg total.

An older post but helping info. When you talk about the silver springs there are 2 sets. One larger than the other. Trying to get mine set up, but what size silver spring to use. Thanks for any help.
Spelling is bad, used a flat rod 12" LG. Put a hole in the middle. Used a Hurst floor shifter. Used 2 rods with helm joints on each end.put 1 from shifter to top of flat rod and the other from trans to bottom of flat rod and made a bearing and bolted it to the side of the center floor Hump...
